TsavoKamba Community Museum (TKCM)
The traditional Kamba lifestyles are on the verge of extinction due to the pressure from current human civilization. Many people from Ikutha aged below 40 years do not know how the Kamba people of 1900 lived. The main aim of the museum is to reclaim this lost information and showcase it to community members. This will lead to deeper understanding and appreciation of the traditional Kamba lifestyles by people from this area, other parts of Kenya and even from abroad. We believe that if this information is not collected, exhibited and preserved it will be lost forever. This will be a great loss to mankind. The museum is located in Kasaala Market, in Kasaala Location of Ikutha Division, on the way to Ithumba-the Headquarter of the Northern part of Tsavo East National Park. The museum project has been established in collaboration of TECDI with Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Kitui County Council and community members from this locality.

Kambas are the legendary wood carvers and carvings and other cultural artefacts are being displayed. New artefacts and information on cultural traditions of Kambas of this area are being prepared for exhibition.

How can you get involved?
If you are in Kasaala or Ikutha or you are visiting the Tsavo East National Park we would love you to visit the Tsavo Kamba Community Museum. This facility will give you detailed information about Kamba cultural traditions which are not exhibited elsewhere in Kenya in such a comprehensive manner. It is also an opportunity to learn about Kamba language, proverbs and traditions especially if you are from abroad and interested in working in eastern Kenya, the stronghold of Kamba people in Kenya. It is also an opportunity to interact with the community through traditional dances and sampling of the Kamba traditional foods. For more information contact us directly.
